Today is GIFT day!! A memory of a Gift received... a memory of a gift given.
For some reason this is very tough.. my birthday is just a month before Christmas so my gifts become muddled between the two.
But I do remember a few gifts. And I'm going to share a memory when I was still young enough to be amazed and dazzled by the magic.
One year I must have wanted a wallet. And I'm going to bet I gave very specific 'needs' for such wallet. Being the baby fashionista that I was I am sure I specified Size, style, color.
The thing is I lived in Europe from the time I was in 5th grade to graduation from High School. We shopped mostly from the sears mail order catalog. And if I saw anything in a magazine I loved, my dad would be given the task of finding it on his business trips to 'The States'.
So I am sure I saw this wallet in a magazine and on Christmas when I open a gift from my grandmother.. there it is.. the PINK wallet I so wanted... PERFECT in every way!! And i was SO AMAZED that she KNEW just what I wanted!!!!
Not yet knowing that MOM wrote our wish list and sent it to her.. LOL!!!! Ahhhh the magic... the magic is in the air!
And please note... my brothers did not get ANY better cuts on their bangs than I DID at their age.. revenge is sweet... but I digress!

My quilt pattern that I have promised me will be done someday is a Mariner's Compass. I love them and just have to have on someday.

Christmas is the best and I like to have a tree in every room, except the unused bedrooms. Takes at least three days to decorate, sometimes four.

I gave my husband a really nice raw hide billfold one year he loved it. Lost it when he was fishing. LOL

Christmas is so magical when you are little--I got a "grown up" doll that I still love as much as when I first saw her---she still graces my home---and I remember my father's face when I opened the box...............

Must have been fun living in Europe for so long. Do you get to go back very often?

A pink wallet for Christmas now sweet. I've got a pink hard flat snap shut wallet on my wish list this year.

Thanks for sharing the "magic"! Love seeing the Christmas tree with all the tinsel in the background, too... Probably my favorite tree decoration as a little girl, and they just don't make it like they used to!

It is always such a joy to hear about those days before it became our responsibility to make Christmas special memories for our families. Thanks.
