Camp Sloanie - Winter Stashbuster Event

Let's all head to camp... Camp Sloanie that is!! for a Winter Stashbuster weekend!! Seems SO appropriate after interviewing Bonnie Hunter for my radio show! (did you hear the show yet? CLICK here for the SHOW and click HERE to enter the giveaway contest!)

Here is the Camp Itinerary....

• I will give out assignments every few days here at my blog.  
• I'll show you the block I designed to bust some stash.. SO SO EASY!
• I'll give you directions for cutting up fabric prior to Feb 5.
• Feb 5 to Feb 7 you will sew sew sew!! And try and make as BIG a quilt as you can to use up as much stash as you can! maybe make TWO quilts!  
• Prizes will be given away during the 3 days of sewing lust.. um.. fun!
• By the time the Super Bowl starts you should have the makings of a GREAT quilt and a smaller stash!

FAQs

• Do I have to buy anything - Just snacks to keep you fortified.. I don't want anyone fainting away from starvation!
• Do I have to use the block you provide - No! Use any block you Love that is EASY... The idea is to use up fabric and sew QUICKLY.. maybe you want to try one of Bonnie Hunter's free blocks (CLICK HERE).. give it a whirl!  BUT .. the idea is to make it a easy sewing weekend so you don't want anything hard.. no starting that double wedding ring or New York Beauty this weekend!
• Do I need a purpose for the quilt? - No! I love Bonnies suggestion of making one quilt to give to someone in need this year.. maybe THIS is that quilt!
• I don't have stash to bust - OH MY! Find a friend that does and help HER!
• I don' know what fabric to use - Stay tuned.. my assignments for the next 2 weeks will get you there!

Alright enough of THAT!

Assignment 1 - I promise this is BETTER than getting Kitchen cleanup or Latrine duty at Camp.. really.. trust me!

For the next 2 days look around your studio, in the stored boxes, under the bed in the other room, the gargage, kitchen cupboards, and in the trunk of the car (yes.. I know you store fabric there!)

Find your precuts... strips and squares will work for our project. 

and find any collections of fabric you have been saving...You know.. you starting grouping fabric in a pile because it goes together so well... like this bin of mine. Mostly chocolate and soft lime... with a splash of bright blue.

If you love any of these piles more than Peanut M&M's.. save it to the side for further review!

On Thursday I will give you another searching assignment...

OK, I've marked this on my calendar and am cautiously considering it...if hubby is doing school work that weekend, I'll be joining you for Friday and Saturday....won't be able to continue on Sunday, but that should be OK? I will possibly be able to get back to the computer later on Sunday to touch base. I do have bundles of fabrics that look good together all over this house, so that ain't a problem LOL. Looking forward to seeing where this goes and hope I can join!

Hi Pat. I just finished listening to your Radio Show with Bonnie Hunter. I am really enjoying listening to you and your guests each week! As I was listening today I was cutting fabric from my scrap box into squares and strips and I heard Bonnie say about whenever she finishes a project she then cuts her leftovers into usable sizes and sorts them like that. The lightbulb went off in head as I am cutting my scraps, that's what I need to do so I don't have to spend another how many days cutting my scraps into squares and strips. Just do it in the first place when I am done with a project. Thanks to both of you for giving us quilters such great useful ideas!
