I'm a "DESIGN MY ADIRONDACK" Designer!

Today is the First Day of the Kathy Peterson "DESIGN MY ADIRONDACK" Blog hop!  Every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks you will see FIVE different version of Kathy's Adirondack chair all 'Crafted Up' by all different types of designer!

You saw this the other day.. this is how the chair arrived... in a big box!! Next was to think up a design. I wanted to recreate the Quilt Block on a Barn concept on a chair. 

But What Quilt block to use?

I just celebrated 30 years of Marriage and the Double Wedding Ring came to mind. It is also a very classic pattern, one of the first quilt I made was a hand pieced, hand quilted DWR wall hanging...this one to be exact!

I went out to my friends at McCAll's magazine and found a pattern for a DWR, I was in business!

My color palette is inspired by my newest fabric line "Sweet Liberty" CLICK HERE TO SEE IT ALL

Now to base coat the chair... remember I am a QUILTER.. I usually 'paint' with fabric. So I had to get into Paint mode. We went to the store to buy spray paint for the base coat

DO YOU KNOW you are CARDED for buying spray paint??? Who KNEW!  I assured the nice young man I would only spray paint the bridges late and night and would not take the store receipt with me.... geezzz

Here is the base coat of a nice butter yellow, the Shipping Department did this step!

Next I cut out the Double Wedding Ring pattern

And drew out 3 rings and taped them to the chair. I traced the design onto the chair... and had to decide on a color scheme!

I have a lot of red, my front door is red, red is the COLOR of Love... so... red! PLUS I Love Stars... so decided a Red/White/Blue with stars was IT!

And the REVEAL!!! I put 'stitch' lines inside the blue and white squares and inside the stars. This beauty will be on my front porch... if you happen to drive by!

I REALLY love this chair.

It is comfy,

it is STURDY

if you want to paint it .. it's a BREEZE!!!

I LOVE the idea of painting a quilt design on a chair. However, I don't think I can paint very well, but then again I've never tried anything like this. Pat, your chair came out so cool!!
