Thoughts and a Quote
Seriously... where IS spring and summer? We have had such cool weather and all I want to do is put on my shorts and sandals. If I was NEAR a beach I'd want to go for a walk... splash around a bit.. you know ... do Summer stuff!
One of my FAVORITE things about the shore is Salt Water Taffy... do you like it? In round pieces or long pieces? I like the firmer taffy... either shape!
Here is a NJ favorite 'Fralingers'... I grew up at the NJ shore.. so everything 'beachy' reminds me of being a kid....
http://seashoretaffy.com/
How did the name come about? From the Fralingers website -
" Legend has it that Salt Water Taffy received its name by accident. A young
candy merchant, opened a taffy stand on the first Atlantic City Boardwalk -
then just two steps above sea level. One night a generous tide brought in a
lively surf which sprayed sea foam over his establishment and dampened his stock of candy. The next morning, the merchant was dismayed to find his
merchandise wet and responded to a girl's request for taffy with a sarcastic but witty, "you mean Salt Water Taffy." The name, stuck!"
I may JUST have to run away to the shore soon... very very soon!
"Some
people are always grumbling because roses have thorns. I am thankful that thorns
have roses."
– Jean-Baptiste Alphonse
Karr
French author Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr is remembered primarily for his
epigram "The more things change, the more they stay the same." He is also known
for his autobiographical romances, including the popular Genevieve. He
was born in 1808 in Paris
