July 2008

July 16, 2008

2008_roanoke_023_coffee_2 It  has been a glorious month so far!

2008_roanoke_062_pat_gregg_sm

I've done a bit of travel and even took a few days off over the holidays with my family. We were down in Roanoke VA and did a TON of history type things.

First stop was the P Buckley Moss museum, which is SO AWESOME! If you love her work you must stop in. Then on to McCormick Farm where I filmed a little video (see below).

Our home for 2 nights was Roanoke VA. The Fireworks on the 4th were spectacular and it seemed like they were RIGHT over our heads.. so fun! This sign is down town and has been restored to it's original  condition. So pretty at night... we could see it from our hotel.

Lots of museums and walking and eating. It was great to relax and just take our time. Hope your month is equally wonderful!

Thoughts and a Quote

2008_roanoke_077_chippeeokie dokie... we are officially CRAZY about our 'little chippie'.

While On vacation we bought him a present (dunno know why he is a he... but we are not checking and he isn't telling... so he is a he!)

Soooo.... do you think he will be the roundest chippie on the planet? We think he is stock piling the nuts in his chippie warehouse...

What shall we call him?  Gregg and my dad are convinced he is ALVIN... and I'm thinking I like that name... he sort of fits the part.. hehe!

A quote!

Each life is like a letter of the alphabet. Alone it can be meaningless. Or it can be part of a great meaning.

I put all the fabric I have in stock on it's own shopping page. I have all the blue, green, pink, brown with blue polka dots and one of the greens she used in the leaves.

I'll bet in your collection you have enough cream fabrics to complete the quilt!

Thoughts and a Quote

Chippie When I was a very little kid we had some fish and a turtle as 'pets' but I didn't really relate to them.

But in 6th grade we had classroom hamsters. I was in love with Janice and would take her home many weekends. Not only did we take them home put we put them in our desks during class (yes.. let's not think about all the issues with that.. it's a grand memory!)

When the school year ended all the hamsters went to live with families and my teacher let me have Janice. What a wonderful thing this was!

We currently have several (at least we hope it's only several) chippies living in our yard. Recently we started feeding them some peanuts (cuz my friend Sandy said they LOVE peanuts). What fun as they don't mind getting fairly close for a peanut! They remind me of my beloved Janice.

One of them will come running every time the screen door is opened, it's pretty funny to see him 'gallop' to the door.

What was your first pet? Do you still have pets?

Have 2 quotes this month!

To love abundantly is to live abundantly, and to love forever is to live forever.

— Henry Drummond

"Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways it can change someone else's life forever."
– Margaret Cho
