Button On Banners

You may not know that I have patterns published with Indygo Junction and I've decided to start picking up some of those to have on my website. The first one is a cool idea I thought up years ago ... switch out the panel for a new look on a base you keep the same. Similar to my banners I did for the magazines.. but changeable! The banner underneath can be made the size that fits your area... make it short or long!http://patsloan.biz

I was able to get a bolt of each of these Pop Garden prints from FreeSpirit. The colors are amazingly cheerful and make me smile! I am thinking of a bag with the floral front and center, accent with the swirl. Or maybe I'll make pillows and a table runner..... mmmm... so many fantastic ways to use these!

Christmas Tea Towel "Lovie Dovie"

Xmas_stitchery_collage

Oh that sounds mushy but really... these Tea Towel embroideries from Crab Apple Hill are just TOO ADORABLE for words! I went CRAZY and bought tea-towels, red rick rack, more colors of perle cotton thread, the pattern, AND a FABULOUS red and black check for the store. I think you could do 2 or 3 sayings on each 'end' of the towel and that way you enjoy more of them at once! Just turn the towel to enjoy the rest! And guess what? All 12 are in the pattern... yeah!

Thoughts and a Quote

When we went to North Carolina to teach recently, Gregg decided it might be a really nice change to stay in a B&B instead of the 'usual chain hotel'.

Bath_nc_trip_029pirate_hugsm

Well I do declare that I think this might have been his VERY BEST idea of the year! The area we taught in is very historic and out of the way... so choices were not plentiful but he found an AWESOME B&B called 'The Inn on Bath Creek'. The owners are a wonderful couple and I think I need Rick to come cook me breakfast every day!

Bath is the oldest town in North Carolina and very small. But it makes up for size in it's beauty and history!  Black Beard the Pirate roamed the streets and the town was the center of the NC universe for awhile, so all kinds of very important NC government things happened here.

For workshop days we drove about 20 minutes to the next town of Washington. Which is also very beautiful and the whole downtown is on the historic register.

Gregg booked us a day off... see.. I TOLD YOU it was his best idea of the year! The inn has bikes so we biked all around the streets, waved at everyone as we biked by, sat by the water, read all the historic signs and had a GREAT time. We even took an evening ride down to see the moon over the river, soooo pretty!

House

The other thing we did was kayak on the river, which was SOOOOOO KOOL!!! We went out in the early morning and kayaked into the little bits around the river for 2 hours. I had  such a great time! Below is the 'Bath Beach'... hehe.. no joking! This is where we put the kayaks into the water.

So if you want a wonderful, quiet, place, with a quilt on the bed, Check out the Inn and tell them we sent you!

Bath_nc_trip_031the_beach

...And a quote that we all need at some time... I think it should be printed on cards we can hand out when we know someone needs this thought...

When one door closes another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which open for us.

— Alexander Graham Bell
